Book Review: “The Bishop’s Wife”

This is a well-told story and the tension carries the reader right through to the last pages. There are some nice poetic moments, and despite its religious overtones, is a cheerfully approachable story with just the right level of saltiness to it. The Mormon faith does come across as both very nurturing and communal . . . and definitely offbeat and peculiar in its practices. I see from other reviews that some members of the LDS community dispute some of the teachings as portrayed in this story. I must say, without violating any spoiler alerts, that at least two plot twists require the reader to suspend belief (one quite major in the tale’s conclusion.) Still, it’s a good read and worth your time to consider.BISHOPSWIFE
